In
deciding your means of transportation, please keep in mind the number of tours and places you wish to visit while you are here,
as well as the time you are staying.

Fiesole is easy to reach from Florence.
If you are on the Autostrada del Sole (A1) we suggest the Firenze
Sud exit: Fiesole is marked with blue road signs, but as further
information, follow directions to the Stadio. From he other exits, Firenze
Nord,
Firenze Certosa and Firenze Signa, or from the toll-free superstrade
Firenze-Siena and Firenze-Pisa-Livorno follow directions for
Viali Circonvallazione/Centro/Stadio, then for Fiesole, which is about 5
km from Florence. In Fiesole’s main square
drive on along the pharmacy, it’s an uphill road, towards Olmo- Torre di
Buiano-Borgo San Lorenzo. You will be driving across the whole
town and exit it; now the name of the road is SP. 54 also named “dei Bosconi”.
The road goes along the side of the hill, offering a scenic overview of the
Mugnone valley. When you reach the kilometer 6.7 a brown road sign marks
Torre di Buiano. After a few meter, opposite a small stone church,
you will find the small entrance on via Torre di Buiano. After about 100
meters downhill,
follow the sign to the Parking of Poggio al Sole.
In case of traffic jam for those coming from the North ( A1 Bologna – Firenze) you may exit at Barberino di Mugello and follow directions
to Borgo S. Lorenzo – Firenze via Faentina (SS 302). When you reach the four –way crossroads Vetta Le Croci – Fiesole take the left towards
Fiesole, after 2 km, on your left, you will find the restaurant La Casa del Prosciutto and after 50 meters, on your right, the small
entrance to Torre di Buiano, and after 100 meters the parking of the farmhouse.

You will arrive at the railroad station of Santa Maria Novella. At the main exit, on your left, under the bus shelter
, look for the terminus of bus No. 7, which takes you to Fiesole in about half an hour, you will get off in Piazza Mino. Please buy your
bus ticket before boarding the bus (at a bar, tobacconist, newspaper stand), or from the bus driver at 2 euro instead of 1.20 euro.
You will have to catch another local bus in Fiesole, No. 45, that will take you to the fork to Torre di Buiano in about 15 minutes, but
does not run very often. Please check timetables at www.ataf.net

There are several arrivals to the airport L. da Vinci of Florence from the main Italian and European cities.
Once you are at the airport, you can reach he center of town by taxi, bus, rental car (you can find rental companies at the airport.
For intercontinental flights you will stop over in Pisa, which is well connected with Florence through trains that reach Santa
S. Maria Novella in about an hour. |
